About The Position

Fortis College in Columbia SC has a current opening for a Dean of Nursing. Fortis is affiliated with Education Affiliates, a company with approximately 50 post-secondary schools nationwide, with over 20 of these locations offering nursing programs. These schools are known as Fortis College, Fortis Institute, Denver School of Nursing, and St. Paul’s School of Nursing. Our programs range from practical nursing to MSN degrees. The Dean/Director of Nursing is responsible for providing leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing program. The person in this role must facilitate responsiveness by the program, to the needs of the community and the health care system, as well as, foster within the program, an organizational culture that supports collegiality, personal well-being, and professional development of students, faculty, and staff. The Dean/Director also serves as the representative of the program to the College/Campus administration, regulatory and accreditation bodies, Education Affiliates Nursing Division, the local advisory committee, and to other internal and external constituencies.

Requirements

  • Current active unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse or APRN in state of South Carolina or multistate privilege to practice nursing in South Carolina.
  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Nursing (Doctoral degree in nursing or health related major required for a Dean).
  • At least five years of practice experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least two as a faculty member in a professional nursing education program.
  • Minimum of one (1) year successful experience in an administrative or management role.
  • Competent in personal computer applications: word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to serve as a positive, supportive, and enthusiastic role model.
  • Successful completion of criminal background check, drug screening, appropriate immunizations and CPR and HIPPA certification.

Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing program.
