About The Position

Sullivan University is seeking a full-time Dean of Nursing to provide vision, leadership, and management for the College of Nursing. The Dean will collaborate with Program Directors to oversee all program activities, curriculum, and faculty. This position is based in Louisville with regular travel to the Lexington location. Requirements

  • An active KY or multi-state unencumbered registered nursing license is required.
  • Extensive practitioner and leadership experience.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Explorer.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently while meeting required deadlines.
  • Knowledgeable in programmatic material for the department.
  • Ability to function efficiently in a stressful work environment.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time and move about the campus.
  • Must be able to hear and speak well enough to communicate with students, faculty, and staff face to face and via the telephone.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in related field (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and administers goals and processes for continuous improvement of all programs and student learning outcomes.
  • Prepares and presents annual assessments of student learning and continuous improvement activities.
  • Evaluates, develops, and maintains area-specific curriculum in cooperation with faculty, the Provost, and the Curriculum Committee.
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of area-specific syllabi and ensures course descriptions and objectives match the catalog.
  • Ensures instructors utilize the learning management system and curriculum as directed.
  • Oversees the selection of course materials, equipment, and technology.
  • Conducts regular departmental and curriculum review meetings and submits minutes to the Provost.
  • Works with Program Directors to prepare annual class schedules and instructor quarterly class assignment schedules.
  • Ensures course offerings meet the needs of the institution.
  • Conducts faculty course/classroom observations with assistance from Program Directors and the Provost.
  • Creates and conducts annual faculty performance reviews.
  • Hires and supervises faculty with the assistance of Program Directors.
  • Ensures faculty course assignments are appropriate based on documented credentials.
  • Verifies class assignment eligibility and supervises faculty from other colleges teaching within the assigned college's curricula.
  • Promotes academic programs offered by the college, internally and externally.
  • Ensures program and curriculum accuracy in institutional materials.
  • Works to ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory criteria/standards.
  • Promotes a productive academic environment for faculty and students.
  • Facilitates the resolution of student issues and course-related grievances.
  • Ensures classroom and equipment availability for instruction.
  • Teaches an assigned course load and performs faculty member functions.
  • Serves as a member of the Academic Council and other assigned committees.
  • Oversees an external college advisory committee.
  • Administers and participates in the faculty professional development program.
  • Assists in providing accommodations to students with ADA issues.
  • Promotes the University in cooperation with the Admissions Department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
