About The Position

The Dean of Men at Saint Mary's Catholic High School serves as a faith-filled educational leader dedicated to fostering a safe, supportive, and Christ-centered learning environment where students are encouraged to grow academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. Working collaboratively with administration, faculty, parents, students, and the Dean of Women, the Dean of Men oversees student discipline, attendance, campus supervision, safety procedures, and student support systems in alignment with the mission and values of Catholic education. The Dean of Men serves as a visible mentor and role model who promotes Gospel values, encourages personal responsibility and self-discipline, and contributes to building a positive school culture rooted in faith, respect, accountability, and community. This position requires strong communication, leadership, organization, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced school environment.

Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic willing to support the mission of Catholic education and sign a Profession of Faith (Bona Fide Occupational Qualification – BFOQ).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education required.
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience.
  • Meets all Diocesan Catechist Certification requirements and Safe Environment Training expectations.
  • Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
  • Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to diocesan and school policies.
  • Strong understanding of Catholic education, adolescent development, and student behavior management.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, flexibility, composure, and sound judgment in routine and unexpected situations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, appropriate demeanor, and positive role-modeling for students.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or Administration preferred.
  • Administrative certification or eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with the Dean of Women to oversee student discipline, behavior expectations, and attendance procedures in accordance with school policies and the Parent-Student Handbook.
  • Communicates with students and parents regarding behavioral, attendance, and disciplinary concerns while promoting student growth and accountability.
  • Develops behavior improvement plans and supports restorative practices that encourage self-discipline and personal responsibility.
  • Collaborates with counselors, faculty, administration, and the Dean of Women to support student well-being and success.
  • Assists in resolving student conflicts and managing disciplinary review processes when necessary.
  • Works in partnership with the Dean of Women to supervise student conduct and campus behavior during the school day and at school activities on and off campus.
  • Coordinates faculty supervision schedules for student events and activities in collaboration with administration.
  • Oversees detention procedures, student identification systems, and student parking operations.
  • Assists in coordinating and implementing school safety procedures, crisis response plans, and emergency drills.
  • Serves as a member of the school’s crisis response and safety team.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation related to discipline, attendance, and student conduct.
  • Assists with updates and implementation of student policies and procedures.
  • Supports the day-to-day operations and supervision of the school in collaboration with the administrative team and the Dean of Women.
  • Maintains a visible and active presence throughout campus, classrooms, and school events.
  • Serves as an accessible resource for students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Principal or the Principal’s designee.
  • Supports and advances the mission of Catholic education through leadership, service, and witness to the Catholic faith.
  • Promotes Gospel values, Catholic teachings, and a positive school culture rooted in faith, respect, and accountability.
  • Serves as a mentor and visible presence who supports the spiritual, social, emotional, and academic development of students.
  • Participates in professional development, diocesan meetings, and ongoing learning opportunities that support leadership and Catholic education.
  • Collaborates with faculty and staff to foster a positive school climate and support continuous improvement.
  • Seeks resources and support systems that benefit students, families, and faculty.
