About The Position

BFAIR is a national and state accredited human service agency dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role involves providing various supports to individuals with disabilities in a group home setting. This includes assisting with daily living activities such as personal care, housekeeping, cooking, and recreational activities. DSPs work to foster independence and help individuals achieve personal goals, as well as encourage participation in community activities and the pursuit of individual interests.

Requirements

• Minimum of 18 years of age
• High School Diploma/GED or one year experience in a related field
• Must possess basic math (addition/subtraction) skills
• Ability to read & write
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
• Ability to multi-task and exercise good judgement
• Ability to complete all initial and ongoing background checks including but not limited to: CORI, SORI, Fingerprinting, LEIE, Driving record, E-verify, Physical, PPD and licensing and/or certification checks (i.e., nursing)
• Valid US driver’s license and ready access to a vehicle
• Must maintain all certification needed in the program including CPR, First Aid, Safe Techniques to Avoid Restraint and Training (START), Medication Administration (MAP) and BFAIR Human Rights Training
• May need to attend workshops, seminars or BFAIR functions as needed for job development

• Providing various supports to individuals with disabilities in a group home setting
• Assisting individuals in all areas of daily living including personal care, housekeeping, cooking, and recreational activities
• Working closely with individuals to help them to become as independent as possible and to meet their own personal goals
• Assisting individuals to find and participate in community activities they enjoy
• Encouraging community membership as well as pursuing individual interests
