DCIM Engineer / Nlyte Administrator

About The Position

This role involves owning and administering the Nlyte DCIM platform, ensuring accurate lifecycle records for data center assets. The engineer will be responsible for configuring rack layouts, power chain mappings, and device templates to enhance capacity visibility. A key aspect of the role is leveraging DCIM analytics to optimize power utilization effectiveness (PUE) and cooling efficiency, while also directly managing physical infrastructure tracking across racks, PDUs, and cabling systems. The position requires leading MAC workflows, driving automation, and partnering with facilities teams for BMS integration. Proactive monitoring of power systems and integration with ITSM tools are also crucial. The role includes designing automated provisioning/decommissioning workflows, generating executive reports, and providing strategic recommendations for data center scaling and optimization. Analysis of capacity utilization, rack placement planning, and collaboration with cooling systems to address hotspots are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical data center experience).
Experience with Nlyte Asset Optimizer (AO) and Nlyte Energy Optimizer (NEO).
Experience in bridging the gap between IT infrastructure and facilities operations.
Knowledge of data center assets, capacity, power, and cooling.
Ability to model end-to-end power paths from Utility to Device.
Experience with power chain modeling and configuration including A/B redundant feeds.
Ability to analyze load propagation and evaluate cascading impacts of failures.
Experience defining PDU load calculations and circuit utilization thresholds.
Ability to interpret environmental data from temperature sensors and airflow patterns.

Responsibilities

Own and administer the Nlyte DCIM platform, maintaining accurate lifecycle records for assets from procurement to decommissioning.
Configure rack layouts, power chain mappings, and device templates to improve capacity visibility.
Leverage DCIM analytics to optimize power utilization effectiveness (PUE) and cooling efficiency.
Direct physical infrastructure tracking across all racks, PDUs, and structured cabling systems.
Lead MAC (Moves, Adds, Changes) workflows and drive workflow automation.
Partner with facilities teams to integrate DCIM with Building Management Systems (BMS) for real-time monitoring.
Monitor UPS, RPP/PDM, and PDU loads to proactively prevent capacity constraints and outages.
Integrate the DCIM platform with ITSM tools such as Jira or CMDB to streamline ticketing.
Design automated workflows for rapid device provisioning and decommissioning.
Generate executive-level reports on capacity utilization, power consumption, and sustainability metrics.
Provide strategic recommendations for data center scaling and optimization.
Analyze available versus used capacity to identify stranded capacity and overloaded circuits.
Perform precision rack placement planning and build predictive capacity modeling scenarios.
Collaborate with CRAC/CRAH systems to identify hotspots and remediate inefficient cooling zones.
