About The Position

This role involves managing a 2-shift operation of approximately 10-15 associates at the Bloomfield, Connecticut location. The successful candidate will have full ownership of running, leading, and managing the 20-hour a day, 6-day a week operation of a 50,000 sq. foot warehouse distribution center for mattresses and other bedding products. Strong leadership skills are essential for this position. The role requires planning, budgeting, and effective supervision of approximately 2 Supervisors and 10-15 employees, including warehouse workers and tractor-trailer drivers, as well as managing a small number of seasonal contracted labor and temporary employees. Collaboration with Corporate Headquarters and the main warehouse in Frederick, MD is necessary to ensure process and building functionality and synergies between locations. The position is responsible for directing all dock operations for efficient operations, accurate inventories, and accurate manifests of all outbound loads, overseeing all shifts necessary for warehouse operations. This includes responsibility for all resources such as shipping and receiving workers, drivers, trucks, and motorized equipment, ensuring they are properly licensed and serviced for safe and efficient operation. Asset management and inventory of all company-owned products and equipment are also key responsibilities. The role involves developing and recommending improvements to current warehouse procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, safety, and cost reduction, while ensuring optimal utilization of all warehouse space. Developing and implementing safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment, complying with all safety standards and guidelines (OSHA), and overseeing DOT and OSHA compliance, including current forklift certified operators, are critical. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment, conducting quarterly inventory, and being responsible for the security of the Distribution Center when unoccupied are also part of the duties. The manager will supervise, train, evaluate, and motivate all associates, assign and schedule them accordingly, and communicate with the Director on a daily basis. Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with associates and vendors, and relaying fleet maintenance concerns to the Leasing agent daily are also required. The role may require working extended hours and days as business needs require, and assisting in recruiting, hiring, and training (basic HR duties). Other duties as requested will also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • Fluent Communication in English.
  • Need someone that can train, educate, coach, lead and build a rock-solid team in the Bloomfield location.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of Material Handling Equipment.
  • Experience with MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience with RF Guns and Inventory management systems.
  • Excellent attendance.
  • Time management and multi-tasking skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-Lingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Prefer a minimum of 5 years Warehouse/Distribution experience.
  • Prefer a minimum of 3 years Supervisory/management.
  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
