About The Position

The Daytime Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring safety by supervising the pool area to prevent accidents, assist swimmers, and respond to emergencies. Hours for this position will be 8:00am / 4:00pm M - F.

Requirements

  • Must be 15 years of age, 16 preferred
  • Current American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard/CPR/AED and First Aid Certification, or willing to obtain within the first 30 days of hire
  • Ability to work daytime hours, as needed
  • Ability to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of ARC safety and life saving techniques
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time and recognize swimmers who made need assistance
  • Ability to react appropriately to hazardous or dangerous situations
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and ability to communicate with all ages and swimmers of all skill levels

Responsibilities

  • Creates a safe, enjoyable and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and satisfaction.
  • Acts as sole lifeguard of the pool area, while maintaining constant surveillance of the pool area and responds to emergency situations as needed.
  • Oversees multiple activities including open swim, water exercise, swim lessons, lap swim and safety breaks.
  • Performs first aid when necessary and completes appropriate accident/incident reports.
  • Knows, understands and consistently follows policies and guidelines for the aquatics area.
  • Performs all other related duties as requested or assigned.
