About The Position

The Daycare Teacher is responsible for maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment for children. This role involves promoting the Kaw Nation Day Care Center positively to parents and the community, developing and implementing lesson plans, and ensuring constant vigilance and supervision of children in the classroom and on the playground. The teacher must adhere to Kaw Nation Daycare Policies and Procedures and the Staff Handbook, maintain confidentiality, and provide a positive classroom climate that encourages student learning. The position also requires attending relevant meetings and training, and completing any other duties assigned by the Day Care Center Director or Administration.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Must have or be working toward obtaining a CDA (Child Development Associate).
  • Experience working with young children.
  • Must have or be willing to complete certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Ability to pass random drug testing requirements throughout employment.
  • Ability to pass an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation background check.
  • Cannot have been convicted of or pled guilty to any of the following: Child Abuse or Neglect, Possession, Sale or Distribution of an illegal substance, sexual misconduct of any form, and Assault and Battery.
  • Willingness to gain more knowledge, training, and experience in childhood development.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, adjudication through the Kaw Nation Police Department, and a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be insurable.
  • Must be able to pass a physical examination.

Responsibilities

  • Promoting the Kaw Nation Day Care Center in a positive way to parents and the community.
  • Developing and implementing lesson plans with continuous monitoring.
  • Performing all duties inherent in a childcare setting.
  • Monitoring children in the classroom and on the playground at all times, ensuring no child is left unsupervised and maintaining constant vigilance.
  • Adhering to the Kaw Nation Daycare Policies and Procedures and Staff Handbook.
  • Observing and striving for confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff, and making parents aware of this policy.
  • Providing a nurturing, supportive, and positive classroom climate that encourages student learning.
  • Attending local, state, regional, and national child care meetings/training when deemed appropriate.
  • Completing any other duties assigned by the Day Care Center Director or Administration.
