About The Position

As a Day Program Coordinator, you have the exciting opportunity to serve individuals with disabilities, helping them grow through art and learning. This full-time position at TURN Community Services focuses on providing resources and support to individuals with developmental disabilities through day programs, art center programs, and more. The mission of the nonprofit is to 'TURN dreams into reality!' for both the individuals they serve and their employees, promoting a supportive work environment.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year of work experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • A minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in a work setting, including interviewing and hiring staff, monitoring and evaluating performance, staff training and development, and staff discipline and scheduling.
  • Experience with various forms of art and the ability to teach classes at the program.
  • A minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Own personal, reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver's license, current motor vehicle insurance, and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to drive large program buses and vans.
  • Willingness to train new employees to drive large vehicles.
  • Strong computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with challenging behaviors will be given preference.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring, supervising, and participating in the development and implementation of person-centered and behavior support plans for each individual.
  • Ensuring that each individual's personal goals and well-being are being met through their individualized support plan.
  • Teaching all forms of art, including drawing, singing, dancing, painting, and playing various instruments.
  • Assisting individuals with having fun and participating in activities outside the center.
  • Providing support and assistance with personal hygiene.
  • Frequent assistance with moving or transfers, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Behavior management and consistent adherence to established behavior plans.
  • Serving as the TURN representative in the community and other professional settings, building and maintaining positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Helping individuals with disabilities learn various skills to gain independence.
  • Driving large program buses and vans.
  • Training new employees to drive large vehicles.
