About The Position

The Day Porter at Edelman Fossil Park & Museum plays a vital role in ensuring that our museum and park remain pristine and welcoming for all visitors. In this position, you will provide “make-ready” cleaning services before museum hours as well as continued cleaning maintenance during the day. This position also provides support for day time events. This role is ideal for someone with cleaning experience, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to creating a positive visitor experience.

Requirements

Prior experience in general cleaning, custodial, or event support roles.
Familiarity with basic cleaning procedures and equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members, and supervisors.
Ability to read and follow written cleaning procedures, safety instructions, and product labels.
Ability to work independently and solve problems as they arise.
Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
A dedication to the museum’s educational mission.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a museum, park, nature center, zoo, or similar environment is a plus.
Experience with specialized equipment such as floor machines is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform daily, pre-opening inspections and ensure assigned areas are ready for visitors.
Maintain all assigned areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
Ensure restrooms remain properly stocked, clean, and orderly.
Respond to requests for spill cleanup or other immediate cleaning needs.
Generate maintenance work requests in response to discovered needs.
Maintain an adequate level of cleaning supplies and paper products through an inventory process and notify supervisor when supplies are required to be ordered.
Provide important information to other Janitorial/Porter staff through established methods.
Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
Ensure all interactions with guests are cordial and helpful.
Minimize interference with guest enjoyment while performing assigned duties.
May be assigned to support events scheduled during regular museum hours.
May be assigned to support other Facilities needs from time to time during regular museum hours.
