About The Position

Under the supervision of the IT & Operations Manager, the Day Porter is responsible for facilitating superior library service to patrons through the care and light maintenance of library grounds, facilities, property and equipment to ensure a clean, safe and welcoming environment for patrons, visitors and staff. Specific responsibilities and functions will be assigned by the IT & Operations Manager based on experience, skills, and specific needs of the library.

Requirements

• Perform light cleaning duties including sweep, mop or vacuum of floors; gather and empty trash; dust furniture, walls and equipment; scrub and sanitize restroom fixtures and equipment
• Ensure the usability of public and staff areas by regularly refilling supplies
• Maintain inventory of cleaning and janitorial supplies and submit requisitions for replenishment as needed
• Arrange furniture and equipment required for events and meetings set-up
• Assist in the care and maintenance of external grounds and property, including basic landscaping clean up and seasonal light snow removal
• Respond to and resolve basic issues with facilities, property, or equipment. Escalate more serious problems to IT & Operations Manager
• Follow all safety procedures in use of cleaning products and supplies, as well as when moving equipment, materials, and supplies
• Assist in planning of daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance procedures
