About The Position

To maintain the facilities, school plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of them may be made at all times.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience required in relevant experience or training.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before small groups of employees or organizations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.

Responsibilities

  • Opens, secures and locks the buildings as necessary.
  • Inspects building and grounds for cleanliness, safety, and health hazards.
  • Strives to promote the safety, health, and comfort of the student and employees.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and practices proper usage.
  • Cleans assigned areas daily and as necessary.
  • Cleans restrooms daily and as necessary.
  • Makes minor repairs to facilities as directed.
  • Replaces light bulbs as necessary.
  • Performs related custodial duties as assigned.
  • Cleans walls, driveways, parking areas and steps as needed.
  • Keeps all areas clean and in and out of building.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the building principal, custodian supervisor, and the Director of Support Services.
  • Maintains and adheres to all safety and code requirements of the Federal, State, local and Board of Education guidelines.
  • Will follow all District policies and procedures for Support Employees.
  • Makes independent, "on the spot", "safe to operate" decisions concerning safety of students, staff, and patrons when necessary.
  • Performs preventative maintenance.
  • Maintains and operates various equipment, tools, and materials in a safe manner and in good working condition.
  • Operates and maintains equipment safely.
  • Accurately orders and accounts for material and labor relative to assignments including maintaining an inventory and itemized costs on each assignment.
  • Makes recommendations relating to the purchase of supplies and equipment and maintains the inventory of District owned and assigned hand tools, equipment, hardware, materials and supplies
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Works well with both supervisors and other members of the team.
  • Maintains consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Performs other duties assigned by supervisor or administrator.
