About The Position
Join Child Serve as a Day Habilitation Specialist. This role supports the skill development for young adults, providing or assisting with care needs and supervision in a group setting. It is a full-time, benefits-eligible role located in Ames, IA, with a schedule of Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Pass criminal and child abuse background checks.
- High school diploma preferred.
- Must qualify as a ChildServe authorized driver, including passing motor vehicle and car safety checks, providing valid license and insurance, and obtaining a chauffeur’s license if required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for accurate documentation.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively for clear communication and documentation.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with or knowledge of children with special health care needs preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and assist assigned individuals with accessing the community and increasing independence with communication, socialization and daily living skills.
- Implement individual’s care plans and provide ongoing feedback regarding additional or changing care plan needs to child’s supervisor or Day Hab Supervisor.
- Become certified for medication administration, seizures, and g-tube feedings as well as other specialized trainings as identified.
- Assure timely and accurate documentation.
