About The Position

This position is a 40-hour per week role, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The pay rate ranges from $20.00 to $21.49 per hour, depending on prior experience with NYS OPWDD programs. The role requires a valid Driver's License.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience assisting persons with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and/or Autism
• Ability to safely drive an Agency van for a majority of the day
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to document services electronically
• Ability to work independently
• Valid NY State Driver’s License with less than 8 points required

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing oversight to people attending the Day Habilitation Program
• Implement the Day Habilitation plan for each person following stated safeguards
• Provide training and support for each person in accordance with the individual personalized program plan
• Implement behavioral support plans as written and to ensure associated data collection
• Train in and demonstrate competency of CPR, SCIP, Person-Centered Planning and Defensive Driving
• Drive agency vehicles and demonstrate safe driving practices
• Travel train program participants via public transportation
• Establish and maintain a rapport with community supports
• Flexibility to work at varied Day Habilitation sites located in Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties if needed
