About The Position

This position is responsible for cleaning building areas, performing minor repairs, routine maintenance, and preventive maintenance as directed or required. The role also includes grounds maintenance such as mowing, trash pickup, weed control, and snow removal. The custodian will comply with the school recycling program, move and assemble furniture, and perform duties in a timely, neat, and efficient manner. Additionally, the position involves assisting in securing the building at the end of the shift and the ability to adjust hours for early or late programs or snow removal. This is an 8-hour per day position, Monday through Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency required.
Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and work independently.
Must be physically qualified to perform assigned duties including lifting up to 50lbs on a regular basis and display flexibility in cleaning assignments.
Ability to communicate in a clear, positive manner with staff, students and the public.
Must have a desire to work in a cooperative manner and team environment.
Must have a good attendance record and be punctual.
Must have positive work performance evaluations.
Must not have any recent disciplinary actions.
Must conduct a positive interview and receive a good reference from current and previous supervisors.

Nice To Haves

Previous custodial and routine maintenance experience, preferred
Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred.

Responsibilities
