Day Camp Program Support (TEMPORARY)-SC/ Long Beach Red Shield-11-050
About The Position
Supervise and deliver the Red Shield Day Camp programs and activities assigned by the Day Camp Program Coordinator for Day Camp Youth. This role requires basic computer knowledge, good interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds. The position demands a high level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality, along with professional behavior. The individual will be responsible for maintaining cleaning and sanitation practices, supporting the Day Camp Program Coordinator and other staff, reporting accidents and safety concerns, and working with employees and volunteers. Maintaining proper conduct of program participants, assisting with additional duties, performing clerical tasks, and ensuring client confidentiality are also key aspects of this role. Adherence to The Salvation Army's policies and practices is mandatory.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or AA Degree in General Education
- Basic knowledge of computers/Chromebooks
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- Ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds
- Excellent level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality
- Must always display appropriate and professional behavior
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
- Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and multi-task.
- Must adhere to the dress code standards of The Salvation Army unit where position resides.
- Criminal background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures (if working in vicinity of children or vulnerable adults).

Responsibilities
- Supervise and deliver assigned Red Shield Day Camp programs and activities for Day Camp Youth.
- Maintain all cleaning and sanitation practices of the facility and programs.
- Support and work closely with Day Camp Program Coordinator and other staff.
- Report all accidents and facility safety concerns to Day Camp Program Coordinator and/or Red Shield Director.
- Work with employees and volunteers assisting with the programs.
- Maintain proper conduct of all members participating in the program by constantly being aware of potential dangers and correcting behavior.
- Assist with additional duties and responsibilities pertaining to the position.
- Perform other clerical duties and/or supervise other program areas for the safety and ongoing of the Red Shield.
- Maintain client and member confidentiality.
- Adhere to the policies and practices promoted and administered by The Salvation Army.
