About The Position

The Day Camp Leader is responsible for child minding at a day camp. This role involves planning and leading various activities for children, assisting with administrative duties, providing supervision, and ensuring a safe and stimulating environment. The position also requires assisting with camper registration, maintaining camp rules, and potentially offering spiritual support. The Day Camp Leader must demonstrate responsible, ethical, and professional conduct, and work in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in High School or holds a High School Diploma.
  • Must have a valid Police Check with vulnerable sector screening.
  • Must have certificate in First Aid/CPR or willingness to receive training.
  • Willing to take TSA Armatus online training.
  • Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Able to legally work in Canada.
  • Must be able to join children in a variety of activities and maintain a high energy level throughout the program days.
  • Enjoy working with children.
  • Able to lead, work and organize with volunteers.
  • Supportive knowledge of the mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Excellent communication, conflict, resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Work well with children, parents and with other leaders to plan various activities.
  • Assist with a range of administrative duties.
  • Give oversight and supervision of children.
  • Assist with conflict resolution.
  • Ensure campers learn in a safe, fun, and stimulating environment.
  • Assist with registration and screening of campers upon arrival.
  • Maintain, adhere to, and always administer camp rules/policies of the camp program.
  • Willingness to offer spiritual support to campers, parents, other staff members, and is passionate about sharing the Gospel with all involved in the program.
  • Participate and lead aspects of camp program.
  • Demonstrate responsible, ethical, and professional conduct.
  • Provide support and instruction to others.
  • Assist with leadership training opportunities for youth volunteers as required.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
