About The Position

The Day Camp Counselor’s role is to provide a safe, fun, and caring environment for children enrolled in the Summer Day Camp program. Counselors are responsible for leading the group of children in assigned activities and implementing procedures. The Day Camp Counselor supports the Learning Zone & Day Camp Coordinator, the Music & Arts Specialist, and the Recreation Specialist in creating and developing weekly programming for the youth participants. The Day Camp Counselor serves as a chaperone during off site field trips. The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive, and the candidate will be required to undertake such tasks as reasonably expected within the post’s scope.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Experience working with children
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Ability to meet program staffing/planning needs
  • Complete PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • Complete a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training prior to employment.
  • Understand and support the Mission of The Salvation Army.
