Day Camp Canoeing Specialist
About The Position
The Day Camp Canoeing Specialist is responsible for the safety, well-being and supervision of the campers. All assigned duties will be performed in a manner reflecting the YMCA of the USA character development traits of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility. Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age and/or have prior experience in working with children in a camp environment.
- Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs.
- Attend all required pre-camp and camp season trainings and meetings as scheduled.
- Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings before first day of camp.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the safety and well-being of all campers in the group and camp-wide and ensures a risk-free environment for all.
- Assists with the planning and implementation of activities in accordance with the camp schedule, submitting written plans prior to each week or as assigned by Camp Director.
- Maintains positive relationships with campers, parents, and staff.
- Implement canoe curriculum in program spaces during the camp day.
- Follow and maintain safety guidelines.
- Actively participate in all aspects of the day camp schedule as assigned.
- Maintains expectation of the YMCA requirements/rations and help others do the same.
- Works collaboratively with Counselors for assigned group during activity time.
- Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
