About The Position

The Edge Site Operations organization deploys and maintains collocated facilities globally, providing network connectivity for hyperscale datacenters and enabling low latency, reliable connectivity for Microsoft’s Cloud Services. As a Datacenter Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for IT and logistics support for a portfolio of edge sites in a metro or region, embracing a "Four Walls" ownership philosophy. You will collaborate with partnering teams supporting deployments and daily operations, driving world-class support services and assisting other regions as needed. This role offers remote work flexibility when not business critical. Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) powers cloud services, and as a Datacenter Operations Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies. Requirements

  • High School Qualification or equivalent AND 2+ years experience supporting IT equipment or related technology or delivering server and network deployment projects in large-scale environments OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ Years’ experience in a 24x7x365 production environment or related experience.
  • Technical College degree or certification in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications, or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of physical Enterprise-class IT infrastructures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical capabilities, data analysis and attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks and projects autonomously.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal awareness, and communication skills (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

  • Working with partner teams, support deployment, break fix, inventory and asset management, security, and compliance to ensure seamless site operation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with leased facility landlord(s), IT service providers, and partner support teams.
  • Responsible for deploying all physical infrastructure required to provide capacity.
  • Provide quality control for datacenter-wide IT maintenance support activities across multiple service lines.
  • Be the primary point of contact for response to major incidents at your datacenter(s) and participate in proactive and timely resolution of such major incidents impacting MS Cloud services.
  • Meet successful SLA adherence in deployment, break fix and inventory and asset management for your datacenters to ensure all local systems meet requirements supplied by Microsoft internal security and compliance teams.
