Datacenter Architect

Cerebras SystemsSunnyvale, CA

About The Position

Cerebras Systems builds the world's largest AI chip, 56 times larger than GPUs. This architecture allows Cerebras to deliver industry-leading training and inference speeds; over 10 times faster than GPU-based hyperscale cloud inference services. This order of magnitude increase in speed is transforming the user experience of AI applications, unlocking real-time iteration and increasing intelligence via additional agentic computation. Cerebras works with the leading model labs, global enterprises, and cutting-edge AI-native startups. OpenAI recently announced a multi-year partnership with Cerebras, to deploy 750 megawatts of scale, transforming key workloads with ultra high-speed inference. We are looking for an experienced and technically proficient Data Center Architect to lead the technical development of data center infrastructure standards and deployment designs supporting Cerebras AI systems. This role will develop the Basis of Design (BoD) for power, cooling, mechanical, electrical and supporting infrastructure while partnering with internal manufacturing, hardware, mechanical, electrical, thermal and systems engineering teams. The Architect will work closely with external colocation providers, design consultants, EPC firms and equipment vendors to deliver standardized, scalable, high-density AI data center solutions that meet Cerebras performance, reliability and deployment objectives.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience supporting AI infrastructure or semiconductor deployments.
  • Experience with commissioning and operations of large-scale data centers.
  • Familiarity with global colocation providers and EPC delivery models.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the Basis of Design (BoD) for AI data center deployments.
  • Partner with internal manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, thermal, networking and hardware engineering teams to define infrastructure requirements.
  • Develop standardized reference architectures and deployment templates.
  • Work with colocation providers, EPC firms, engineering consultants and OEMs to review and validate designs.
  • Lead technical reviews for power distribution, liquid cooling, CDU architecture, chilled water systems and heat rejection.
  • Define infrastructure requirements for high-density AI clusters emphasizing scalability, reliability and maintainability.
  • Review vendor drawings, calculations and equipment selections for compliance with Cerebras standards.
  • Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, ISO and applicable regional codes.
  • Support commissioning planning, FAT, SAT and operational readiness.
  • Continuously improve design standards by evaluating emerging technologies and lessons learned.

Benefits

  • Build a breakthrough AI platform beyond the constraints of the GPU.
  • Publish and open source their cutting-edge AI research.
