About The Position

The Database Test Engineer will support a 12-month contract in a hybrid work setup in Quincy, Massachusetts. The role focuses on database, SQL, and ETL testing, implementing test strategies, analyzing results, and coordinating bug triage to maintain software quality. It includes backend database testing, test planning and closure activities, and maintaining detailed records of code, testing techniques, and support activities to contribute to the knowledge base and assist similar projects.

The engineer will work with business stakeholders, subject-matter experts, credit officers, and development leads to gather, analyze, and document business requirements. The role also includes demonstrating new features, enhancements, and defect fixes. Relevant domain experience includes capital markets, and the role requires experience with data warehouse and ETL architecture and Python automation.

Requirements

• At least 9 years of experience with database, SQL, and ETL testing.
• Strong experience with data warehouse and ETL architecture.
• Experience with Python automation.
• Experience in functional testing, ETL testing, complex SQL, Oracle database testing, and Java and Python testing.
• Strong SQL skills with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and Databricks, including backend database testing.
• Experience with Octane, HP ALM, and JIRA.
• Hands-on experience with Agile projects.
• Experience in the capital markets domain.

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to data validation automation tools, including custom or markets tools.
• Experience with Copilot and AI.

Responsibilities

• Implement test strategies, analyze results, and coordinate bug triage to uphold software quality standards.
• Perform functional, ETL, Oracle database, and backend database testing using complex SQL.
• Develop and execute test plans, test strategies, and test closure activities.
• Maintain detailed records of code, testing techniques, and support activities to enrich the knowledge base and assist similar projects.
• Work with business stakeholders, SMEs, credit officers, and development leads to gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
• Provide demonstrations highlighting new features, enhancements, and defect fixes.
