About The Position

The Database Platform Engineer is responsible for supporting enterprise database environments by developing automation solutions, executing database queries, and improving operational efficiency through scripting and process automation. The role requires experience working with Oracle and Sybase databases and the ability to leverage Python and automation tools to streamline database administration and reporting activities.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Oracle databases.
  • Working knowledge of Sybase databases.
  • Experience writing and executing SQL queries.
  • Basic understanding of database schemas, users, roles, and permissions ,constraints (FKs, triggers, etc)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and scripting languages quickly.
  • Experience working with relational databases.
  • Python scripting experience or willingness to learn automation development.
  • Strong problem-solving and process improvement mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Python programming.
  • Database connectivity libraries such as cx_Oracle, SQLAlchemy, PyODBC, or similar tools.
  • Shell scripting (Bash, PowerShell).
  • Git or source control tools.
  • Experience with process automation and reporting.
  • Knowledge of database administration concepts.
  • Having some experience in Cloud migration

Responsibilities

  • Write, execute, and troubleshoot SQL queries against Oracle and Sybase databases.
  • Retrieve and analyze database account information, user access details, and database configuration data.
  • Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate repetitive database administration and reporting functions.
  • Build automation solutions that connect to multiple databases and collect account, entitlement, permission, and configuration information.
  • Reduce manual effort by automating database inventory, reporting, compliance validation, and account management tasks.
  • Support database-related operational, migration, and audit initiatives.
  • Assist with troubleshooting database connectivity and data retrieval issues.
  • Create reusable scripts, tools, and documentation that improve operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with database administrators, infrastructure teams, and application support teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes through scripting and automation.
