About The Position

Assumption University is seeking a Database & Enterprise Applications Analyst to manage its SQL Server database environments and support its enterprise systems, including the Ellucian Colleague ERP. This role is crucial for ensuring the performance, integrity, security, and availability of University databases. The analyst will provide day-to-day support for Colleague, develop SQL-based reports, and assist with the rollout of Evisions Argos for self-service reporting. A key responsibility will be supporting the upcoming migration of Ellucian Colleague from on-premises to Ellucian's SaaS environment. Additionally, the position serves as a technical advisor to the University's Data Governance and Security Committee, implementing data governance and security decisions. The ideal candidate is a strong technical problem-solver with excellent communication skills, capable of managing routine tasks, project work, and ad hoc requests in alignment with the University's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University and demonstrate respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in database administration, preferably with Microsoft SQL Server, including backup/recovery, performance tuning, and security management.
  • Strong proficiency with T-SQL and experience developing reports, queries, and data extracts.
  • Familiarity with data governance and data security concepts, including access management and regulatory considerations such as FERPA.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work with non-technical users to define reporting needs.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive data with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to take on new and evolving responsibilities as the University's enterprise systems environment changes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Ellucian Colleague or another higher education ERP.
  • Experience with Evisions Argos or similar reporting platforms (e.g., SQL Server Reporting Services, Informer).
  • Experience supporting a migration from on-premises systems to SaaS or cloud-hosted environments.
  • Experience participating in data governance, data security, or compliance initiatives.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain the University's SQL Server database environments, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Ensure database security, integrity, and availability, including managing user access, monitoring for anomalies, and supporting disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Provide technical and functional support for the Ellucian Colleague ERP, including troubleshooting, data maintenance, patching support, and coordination with functional offices.
  • Support the University's planned migration of Ellucian Colleague from on-premises to Ellucian SaaS, including data validation, integration adjustments, and post-migration reporting continuity.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain SQL-based reports, queries, and data extracts for offices across the University; respond to ad hoc reporting and data requests.
  • Support the rollout, administration, and ongoing maintenance of Evisions Argos, including developing DataBlocks and reports and assisting end users in adopting self-service reporting.
  • Serve as a member of and technical advisor to the University's Data Governance and Security Committee, providing expertise on data security, access management, data quality, and the technical feasibility of proposed policies and standards.
  • Implement data governance and security decisions adopted by the committee, including access controls, data classification measures, and related technical safeguards.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Applications staff and campus departments to gather reporting requirements and ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems.
  • Document database configurations, procedures, and reporting solutions.
  • Assist with data integrations between Colleague and third-party systems.
  • Participate in projects, system implementations, and upgrades as assigned.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed in support of the Office of Information Technology.
