About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Database Engineer to join an Agile development team responsible for planning, developing, releasing, and supporting the systems and technical assets that support the Alder platform. Alder is a mission-critical platform that powers stored-value and gift card products for both internal business teams and external customers. This role owns Microsoft SQL Server-based database, reporting, and supporting infrastructure components that provide operational, financial, and analytical capabilities essential to the platform's success.

Requirements

Transact-SQL development for analytical data stores, including tables, stored procedures, indexes, views, and other Microsoft SQL Server objects.
Queries and stored procedures that produce data for operational, accounting, marketing, and financial use cases.
Query performance analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization.
SSIS projects and packages for workflow orchestration and report delivery.
SSRS and RDL development for self-service business intelligence reporting.
ETL and data warehouse concepts applied in reliable, scalable, and efficient implementations.
Operational troubleshooting and production support for complex systems.
Independent discovery and comprehension of complex relational database and reporting environments.
Agile Kanban and Sprint practices for team-directed and self-directed work.
PowerShell scripting for file management, project builds, deployment, and reusable libraries.
GitHub-based source control and collaborative development workflows.
Robust peer review, testing, and verification processes for approving changes and new technical assets.
Release planning that identifies dependencies, integration concerns, and implementation risk.
Change management practices for promoting changes through development, staging, and production environments.

Responsibilities

Evaluate product requirements against existing application and enterprise architecture, standards, and implementations.
Design, develop, and maintain database objects and related source code using disciplined version control and traceability.
Apply rigorous, efficient quality assurance and verification practices to technical assets and system changes.
Coordinate and execute release activities for secure, reliable, and low-error deployments across development, staging, and production environments.
Maintain system, process, and data reliability and performance; investigate and resolve operational issues.
Identify and reduce technical debt to lower risk, standardize implementation, and simplify ongoing development.
Deliver backend data for analytics and reports, including systems that support self-service business intelligence, data transformation services, and flat-file report delivery.
Own and support on-premises virtual machines and services that use the Microsoft SQL Server platform for database management, orchestration, reporting, and automation.
Recognize, avoid, and mitigate high-risk processes and outcomes.
Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to production incidents involving Alder reporting systems and technical assets.
