About The Position

Chimes is seeking a Database Architect to design scalable, secure, reliable, and high-performing database and data-warehouse structures that support approved business and technical requirements. This is a remote position open to candidates in the United States. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.; Chimes does not provide visa sponsorship. Requirements

• Five or more years of experience in database design, data architecture, database administration, or related work.
• Experience developing logical and physical data models, schemas, standards, and integration designs.

Nice To Haves

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Relevant role-appropriate technical certifications.
• Experience in government, regulated, or security-conscious environments.
• Degrees or certifications in computer science, data science, or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Design and document secure, scalable, reliable, and high-performing database architectures aligned with business and technical requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, and project teams to define database strategy, scope, and constraints.
• Develop logical and physical data models, schemas, metadata structures, views, partitions, indexes, interfaces, and data-transfer mechanisms.
• Establish and enforce database design, development, documentation, and integration standards.
• Design integration approaches for database products and applications.
• Design and coordinate clustering, backup, recovery, load balancing, and availability capabilities to support continuity and minimize downtime.
• Plan database software upgrades.
• Recommend hardware, software, and configuration changes to improve performance and reliability.
• Test database programs and structures, coordinating approved corrections.
