About The Position

HEPCO, Inc. is seeking a senior-level Database Architect for a 30-month assignment in Albany, NY. This role will support a major modernization initiative focused on upgrading aging data warehouse and analytics platforms using new on-premises cloud and container-based technologies. The Database Architect will analyze, design, develop, support, and reengineer database structures across Sybase, SQL Server, and DB2 environments. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience with database performance, data migration, enterprise analytics, and data warehouse modernization.

Requirements

  • At least 84 months of experience monitoring system performance and implementing performance-tuning measures for Sybase and SQL Server databases.
  • At least 84 months of experience managing database maintenance activities, including reorganizations, statistics, and optimization, within Sybase and SQL Server environments.
  • At least 84 months of experience documenting configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines for Sybase and SQL Server databases.
  • At least 84 months of experience applying upgrades and security patches to critical operational databases.
  • At least 84 months of experience using ERwin to create and maintain data models.
  • At least 84 months of experience with Tableau or Cognos Analytics.
  • At least 84 months of experience performing data migrations and conversions within relational database environments.

  • Ability to collaborate across infrastructure, data management, application development, and business teams.
  • Experience supporting large-scale analytics and reporting environments within government or another highly regulated industry is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, develop, support, and reengineer database structures across Sybase, SQL Server, and DB2 environments.
  • Conduct database performance analysis, tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and benchmark design.
  • Design methodologies for synchronizing data from multiple operational data stores into a zLinux DB2 data warehouse.
  • Plan and support integrations among z/OS and LUW DB2 application databases, the data warehouse, Cognos, Identity Insight, and DataStage.
  • Serve as a liaison among data management teams, business stakeholders, and application development teams.
  • Ensure database performance, scalability, and design considerations are incorporated into application implementations.
  • Develop cost-effective and timely database and application solutions aligned with strategic business objectives.
  • Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Apply upgrades and security patches to critical operational databases.
