About The Position

Centuria, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), has been delivering IT, Engineering, and Scientific solutions to the Federal Government since 2002. This role will be supporting the U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFF) Headquarters (HQ) at USFF Norfolk, Virginia at a Government facility/site. As a member of their USFF Communications and Information Systems Division (N6) Support Team, you will significantly contribute to Navy Fleet Readiness and Homeland Security. The team is involved in information technology (IT) support tasks including but are not limited to Program Management support, Network Engineering support, Maritime Operations Center/Tactical Systems support, Video Teleconferencing and Audio/Visual support, Portal Management and Application Development support, Staff IT Business Process/IT Services support, Satellite Communications Planning support, Information Assurance (IA)/Certification and Accreditation support, Database Administration support, Communications Security/EKMS support, and general IT support, as well as maintenance, updating and enhancement of developed application/software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or Associate Degree in Computer Science with additional 2 year experiences
  • Minimum 8 years of experience as DBA in Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Minimum 8 years of in-depth knowledge and experience in database theory and design.
  • Minimum 8 years of in-depth experience in planning, implementing, administering and programming Microsoft SQL
  • Minimum 4 years of in-depth knowledge and experience of Windows O/S, distributed computing architecture (client networking, storage area network (SAN), and Virtualization (Hyper-V and VMware).
  • Experience in Microsoft .NET programming (C# or VB.NET)
  • Minimum six years of in-depth knowledge and experience in Transact SQL and PowerShell.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Data Platform or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Data Management and A MCSE certification must be one of the current published paths by Microsoft.
  • Must have an active secret clearance
  • Must have an IAT II certification which is typically a CompTIA Security+

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain all required security level/posture of all MS SQL Servers.
  • Ensure servers are IA compliant to the latest policies and standards (i.e. STIG, IAVA, etc.).
  • Document and generate reports on all changes applied to MS SQL Servers.
  • Provide assistance in the processing and submission of C&A for MS SQL Servers.
  • Provide recommendations on industry best practices in the use of MS SQL Server and upcoming trends in database design implementation and sustainment.
  • Manage and maintain all MS SQL services to ensure they are always at peak performance (greater than 99.99%).
  • Improve slow performing database(s) and/or code(s) to attain their peak performance throughout the life cycle of the database.
  • Ensure that all Transact-SQL code is bug-free and executes effectively and efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain Analysis Services (such as DAX, OLAP/MOLAP), SQL Reporting Services, Data Transformation Services packages, Business Intelligence, Availability Groups, Clustering, and SQL Agent jobs, ensuring these items are responsive and optimized to execute close to 99.99% efficiency.
  • Manage and maintain all database backup and recovery, ensuring no loss of data.
  • Provide effective and quality training and/or assistance to data analysts, coders/programmers (including pre-production co-reviews), data modelers, managers, and users.
  • Perform auditing, base lining/enhancing/optimizing/tuning (especially index tuning and custom statistics), monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Report to the government lead about system conditions, failures, and future needs.
  • Plan configuration changes, future workloads, and future system resources that are aligned to government mission.
  • Support monthly ASIs and emergent outages.
  • Develop POAM for all projects and tasks.
  • In case of malfunctions, immediately report to the government lead all issues and provide appropriate resolution or mitigation and associated documentation.
  • Attend meetings either physical or virtual.
  • Oversee and influence cloud service providers in infrastructure management and maintenance.
  • Perform tasks that may include cloud infrastructure data migration, database application analysis and design, optimization testing, support and management of cloud infrastructure.
  • Configure and perform daily backup and perform monthly restores to confirm backups.
  • Align SQL databases and servers with DOD ZeroTrust policy and architecture standards.
  • Participate in requirements gatherings and meetings.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support migration efforts according to changing technologies.
