About The Position

PEAK6 Capital Management is seeking a Database Administrator to design and administer our database infrastructure, which includes Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, MongoDB, and Redis. This role involves building and managing highly available systems, participating in incident calls and root cause analysis, and deploying systems in a Linux and/or Windows environment. You will collaborate with developers, the infrastructure team, and business units to design and deliver the data infrastructure that runs PEAK6. Key responsibilities include developing, managing, and testing backup and recovery procedures, performing performance tuning at all levels, and installing, testing, and implementing new database versions and updates. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years primary experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Familiarity with Postgres, MongoDB, and/or Redis
  • Working knowledge of shell scripting (bash, python, powershell)
  • Exposure to various virtualization technologies such as VMWare and OpenStack
  • Exposure to system management and deployment platforms such as Salt, Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with 3rd party database monitoring/administration systems
  • Use of collaboration tools such as Slack, Jira, Confluence and Zoom
