About The Position

CommIT Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Database Administrator to join a team providing Tier III SQL Database Administration support to a client's enterprise network. The role involves configuring Microsoft SQL databases, SSL access, and logging on application servers. The databases support critical solutions like virtual infrastructure, SolarWinds, and BlackBerry Government Enterprise Mass Notification Solution, built on VMware Virtualization and NetApp storage. The ideal candidate will have specialized knowledge in hosting, managing, and administering software on VMware virtualization technologies. Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years supporting Microsoft Database technology
  • IAT III certification (CASP+CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH, or CSSP), can attain within 180 days of hire.
  • Professional series Certification within the product groups technology scope (e.g. MCSE (SQL))
  • SQL 2019 or greater
  • Technical skills creating and maintaining PowerBI dashboards
  • Windows Server 2019 or greater
  • Creating and administering Failover Clusters
  • Creating and administering AlwaysOn Availability Groups
  • Basic knowledge of PowerShell and CMD scripting languages
  • Basic knowledge using and maintaining objects in Active Directory
  • Well suited for working in a team environment with good communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the overall health of technologies associated with Database Infrastructure.
  • Resolve all DBA incident tickets escalated from the Service Desk including executing the associated administrative activities.
  • Provide documentation, guidance and instruction to the Service Desk for the handling of standard database infrastructure related incidents and service requests.
  • Submit and execute network related change request tasks.
  • Coordinate incident tickets between Tier II and III sections as well as other sections as required.
  • Monitor the health of Database Infrastructure with Client provided event management tools such as SolarWinds, PowerBI and other Power Apps.
  • Provide Client project support for Database Infrastructure related technologies.
  • Coordinate with other Client Sections on DBA issues.
  • Support the change management process; submit requests through Change Approval Board and participate in a Change Review Board.
  • Escalate product-related DBA issues to third party product vendors.
  • Implement monitoring tool thresholds and conduct proactive event remediation.
  • Provide analysis and remediation for DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) for all responsible technologies in preparation for Client inspections.
  • Implement, coordinate, and support system upgrades.
  • Provide input and assistance with integration of new capabilities and engineered solutions.
  • Provide reconfiguration and optimization recommendations, in writing, of supported technologies as required.
  • Support the provision of services in supported technology areas assigned.
  • Support configuration, documentation, and planning of Disaster Recovery related items.
  • Perform systems performance monitoring.
  • Provide input and updates to business process models.
  • Maintain, update, and support the development of operational documentation that includes but is not limited to: Work instructions; Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); System diagrams.
  • Possess knowledge and experience in Microsoft Windows operating systems, Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC), and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE).
  • Possess expertise Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC), and Availability Groups.
