About The Position

The Osceola County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller is looking to onboard a highly motivated Database Administrator, that is willing to work in a culture driven by public service.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in various database management systems (DBMS), such as Oracle, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL (Structured Query Language) for writing and optimizing complex database queries.
  • Understanding of database security principles and best practices, including user access control, data encryption, and security auditing.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Shell, or PowerShell to automate routine tasks and manage databases efficiently.
  • Knowledge of strategies and tools to ensure database systems are highly available, including clustering and failover mechanisms.
  • An understanding of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and the ability to implement compliance measures within the database environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Data Science. Will also consider comparative STEM Degrees or Professional Work Experience.
  • Two (2) years minimum of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • Talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Some stooping, lifting, and bending.

Responsibilities

  • Design, create, and maintain efficient database structures, considering factors like normalization, indexing, and data modeling.
  • Implement data backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize database performance, including query optimization, indexing, and resource allocation.
  • Migrate data between different database systems and versions without data loss or integrity issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, such as system failures or data corruption.
  • Ensure database systems are highly available, including clustering and failover mechanisms.
  • Anticipate future data storage and processing needs and plan for scalability accordingly.
  • Utilize data replication and synchronization techniques for disaster recovery, reporting, and distributed systems.
  • Use monitoring tools and set up alerts to proactively identify and address issues.
  • Act, dress, and behave in a professional manner to reflect a positive image of the Clerk & Comptroller’s Office.
  • Establish and maintain a highly effective working relationship with all levels, both internally and externally, in a courteous and professional manner.
