About The Position

Designing and administering our database infrastructure, which includes Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres. Building and managing highly available systems. Participating in incident calls and subsequent root cause analysis. Deploying systems in a Linux and/or Windows environment. Working with developers, infrastructure team and business units to design and deliver the data infrastructure that runs PEAK6. Developing, managing and testing backup and recovery procedures. Performance tuning at all levels (hardware, DB instance, application code, etc.). Installing, testing and implementing new versions and/or updates. Communicating and working well within a team structure.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2+ years of experience designing/administering database infrastructure
• Familiarity with Postgres, Microsoft, Microsoft SQL
• Working knowledge of shell scripting (bash, python, powershell)
• Exposure to various virtualization technologies such as VMWare and ProxMox
• Exposure to system management and deployment platforms such as Salt, Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with 3rd party database monitoring/administration systems
• Use of collaboration tools such as Slack, Jira, Confluence and Zoom
