About The Position

Parsons is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with strong Linux systems administration and networking expertise. The DBA will support and maintain database systems hosted on Linux-based servers across both physical and virtual environments. This role includes ensuring database performance, reliability, and security while supporting the underlying Linux and network infrastructure required for distributed data operations. The ideal candidate will conduct daily database and system health checks, optimize performance, troubleshoot and resolve issues, coordinate upgrades, and collaborate with security personnel to maintain compliance. The ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and operate with minimal supervision is essential.

Requirements

  • Current TS/SCI clearance with Poly
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology discipline and 8+ years of experience; additional experience may substitute for a degree
  • Experience administering Linux operating systems in support of enterprise applications or database workloads
  • Experience supporting virtual environments and deploying Linux-based services used by databases
  • Experience with Cisco network devices, including networking fundamentals essential to database connectivity
  • Strong understanding of core networking technologies (TCP/IP, UDP, firewall concepts) as they relate to secure and reliable database operations

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with modern data workflow tools such as NiFi
  • Experience with virtualization or container technologies (e.g., Docker) used to host database services
  • Familiarity with ELK or similar monitoring and logging stacks
  • Understanding of enterprise network services supporting authentication, logging, and distributed access control
  • Experience with automation tools such as Salt, Ansible, or Puppet
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Confluence, Jira)
  • Background in network security, intrusion detection, and server/database monitoring
  • Experience installing or maintaining server and networking equipment in rack-mounted environments

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily maintenance and health checks for Linux-hosted database environments
  • Diagnose and resolve database, Linux system, and infrastructure issues in networked environments
  • Monitor and optimize both database and system performance using established tools
  • Plan and coordinate database upgrades, migrations, and scheduled system outages
  • Support network monitoring and maintain connectivity essential for database operations
  • Install and maintain server, storage, and networking equipment in datacenter environments
  • Document database architecture, configuration changes, and infrastructure updates
  • Work with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to maintain system authorization and compliance
  • Support occasional after-hours maintenance windows for critical database or system updates
