Database Administrators maintain and provide technical support for the database and reporting environment. This role provides technical leadership for enterprise database and reporting platforms, leading strategy, solution design, and alignment with business objectives. The Database Administrator will collaborate with developers, IT teams, business partners, vendors, and consultants to support enterprise initiatives and evaluate new technologies. They will design, implement, and manage Microsoft SQL Server and Azure database environments, including installation, configuration, patching, and performance tuning. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining database security, auditing, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery strategies and procedures. The role involves monitoring database operations, performance, ETL processes, and capacity, and implementing tools and processes to optimize reliability and efficiency. Support is provided to Solution Architects in the design and implementation of enterprise reporting and data warehouse solutions, including data models, dimensional structures, and ETL processes. The Database Administrator will develop transaction processing and capacity models to support performance management initiatives and support the migration of legacy database systems to enterprise standards and modern platforms. This position provides Tier 3 technical support for database and reporting environments, including participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation. Additional duties include performing SQL code reviews, supporting release management processes (e.g., Azure DevOps/TFS), executing testing, debugging, and performance tuning procedures, and collaborating cross-functionally to resolve system defects. The role involves leading and participating in Agile/Scrum activities, serving as a subject matter expert for database technologies, partnering with leadership to manage workload and prioritize tasks, and training/mentoring DBA staff and other IT team members. The Database Administrator will also develop, document, and enforce database policies, standards, and operational procedures, support enterprise change management processes, identify process improvement opportunities, and maintain database access controls, activity logs, and audit documentation to support SOX compliance and internal/external audits. Partnering with internal audit teams to provide evidence, implement database controls, and support remediation activities in accordance with SOX requirements is also a key responsibility.
