Database Administrators maintain and provide technical support for the database and reporting environment. This is an expert, architect-level role with responsibilities including strategic planning, solution design, database security, performance management, capacity management, operational procedures, and disaster recovery planning. The role also involves leading efforts with developers, IT technology teams, and business partners to support current and future enterprise strategic objectives, as well as leading and managing efforts with vendors and consultants to evaluate and implement new technology. The Database Administrator will serve as a subject matter expert to support developers, business partners, and other stakeholders throughout application development initiatives. Responsibilities include designing and implementing reporting solutions, developing transaction processing environment models, developing and implementing database security policies and procedures, developing and implementing processes and tools to monitor database operations and performance, developing and implementing database disaster recovery strategies, migrating legacy database implementations to enterprise standards, performing code reviews of SQL scripts, managing and monitoring SQL server database backup and recovery processes, and designing, implementing, and managing Microsoft SQL server installation and operational processes. The role also involves executing test procedures for software debugging and performance tuning, collaborating with other IT professionals to resolve software defects, monitoring ETL loads, leading and participating in daily stand-up meetings and SCRUM activities, supporting enterprise change management processes, and documenting project requirements and specifications.
