About The Position

Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a Database Administrator 2 to support the operation, maintenance, and optimization of mission-critical database environments. This role is ideal for a systems administrator with strong database administration experience who enjoys troubleshooting complex technical issues, managing database infrastructure, and ensuring reliable system performance. The Database Administrator 2 will provide hands-on support for database platforms, day-to-day operational activities, capacity planning, and incident resolution while working closely with users, engineers, and stakeholders to maintain the availability and integrity of enterprise database systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Ten (10) years of experience as a Database Administrator or System Administrator with database administration responsibilities supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Five (5) years of additional database administration experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
• Experience supporting database operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and administration in enterprise environments.
• U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants.
• DOD 8570 Certification
• This position requires an active Security Clearance with appropriate Polygraph.

• Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server and other enterprise database platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in database and systems administration environments.
• Experience monitoring system performance, conducting capacity planning, and optimizing resource utilization.
• Familiarity with database backup, recovery, security, patching, and maintenance best practices.
• Understanding of server, storage, and network technologies that support database infrastructure.
• Experience supporting operational environments that require high availability, reliability, and customer responsiveness.

Responsibilities

• Provide implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance support for database systems and related infrastructure.
• Manage the daily configuration, operation, and administration of database environments.
• Monitor database systems, servers, storage, and related devices to ensure optimal performance and availability.
• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for database-related issues, including diagnosis, troubleshooting, escalation, and resolution.
• Assist users with accessing, utilizing, and resolving issues within database systems and services.
• Configure, install, maintain, and upgrade database platforms and software components.
• Perform database performance monitoring, resource optimization, capacity analysis, and growth planning.
• Troubleshoot database infrastructure issues and provide detailed analysis and recommendations for corrective actions.
• Support incident management processes by communicating status updates and resolution efforts to stakeholders and customers.
• Implement system enhancements and improvements that increase database reliability, security, and performance.
• Support database-related hardware and infrastructure issues through resolution and recovery activities.
