About The Position

Halvik is seeking a candidate who will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of a Federal customer's database management systems. The candidate will also be involved in the planning, development, and maintenance of databases, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 or more years of related database administration experience
  • Ability to install, configure, upgrade, and maintain database software and applications
  • Familiarity and/or hands-on experience with Oracle RDBMS and Microsoft SQL-Server RDBMS software, tools and patches
  • Ability to add, create, update, modify and delete database users, as well as create and maintain standard user profiles for adding new users and create and maintain groups (profile of the group, members of the group) and profiles of the privileges possessed by those groups
  • Experience managing database security by assigning the authorized access privileges to users in accordance with established procedures
  • Ability to monitor and maintain all the customer databases, including such items as disk space consumed and use of memory, as well as database backup and recovery/restoration
  • Must possess an active Secret clearance

Responsibilities

  • Model logical and physical data for database management systems
  • Improve database performance through indexing and denormalization
  • Develop data warehouses and marts for specialized data needs
  • Enforce data naming standards and manage database logs
  • Perform database backup, archive and restoration services
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain database software and applications
  • Add, create, update, modify and delete database users, as well as create and maintain standard user profiles for adding new users and create and maintain groups (profile of the group, members of the group) and profiles of the privileges possessed by those groups
  • Manage database security by assigning the authorized access privileges to users in accordance with established procedures
