About The Position

Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Data Visualization Engineer SME specializing in data visualization to join our team in Fort Belvoir, VA or Albuquerque, New Mexico. The primary focus of this role is to design, develop, and maintain informative dashboards and reports utilizing Power BI and MicroStrategy. The successful candidate will play a critical mission-support role by transforming complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that directly facilitate business strategy, decision-making, and IT Operations sustainment..in support of critical mission requirements enhancing the reliability and security of Department of War (DoW) networks and systems.

Requirements

  • BS and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain - additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Active Secret clearance at time of hire and able to obtain Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).
  • Active IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC, or SSCP) required.
  • United States Citizenship is required.
  • Proven professional track record in data analysis, business intelligence, and building data visualizations for enterprise use.
  • Familiarity with IT Operations and sustainment, including a strong understanding of how to identify and apply relevant data to support these functions.
  • Experience with data extract, transform, and load (ETL) techniques using disparate structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with Power BI (including DAX and Power Query) and MicroStrategy (including Dossiers and standard reporting).
  • Strong command of SQL and experience querying complex relational databases and data warehouses.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical data findings clearly to non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Python or R for advanced data manipulation and statistical analysis.
  • Relevant industry certifications in Power BI (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate) or MicroStrategy.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and advanced semantic layer modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy interactive dashboards, reports, and dossiers using Power BI and MicroStrategy.
  • Identify, extract, and analyze relevant data specifically in support of IT Operations and system sustainment initiatives.
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from disparate structured and unstructured data sources to prepare it for analysis and visualization.
  • Partner with business leaders and IT decision-makers to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical visualization specifications.
  • Interrogate and analyze complex datasets to uncover critical trends, patterns, and insights that support strategic initiatives.
  • Validate data accuracy, troubleshoot reporting anomalies, and optimize dashboard performance for end-users.
  • Provide guidance, documentation, and training to end-users on how to effectively interact with and interpret the visualization tools.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, standard operating procedures, and data dictionaries in support of delivered products.
  • Ensure all tools comply with DoW STIGs and IL5/IL6/IL7 protocols; develop and maintain architectural documentation and compliance traceability.
