About The Position

The Data Scientist is responsible for analyzing large amounts of raw information to find patterns that will help improve decision making in the organization. This requires a highly analytical with a knack for analysis, math and statistics. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for interpreting data. We also want to see a passion for machine-learning and research.

Requirements

• Experience in data mining
• Understanding of machine-learning and operations research
• Knowledge of R, SQL and Python; familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset
• Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong customer service skills, keen attention to detail, flexibility in adapting to changing environment, timely follow-through, and a commitment to learning new skills are required.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills and the willingness to be proactive and take initiative are required.
• The ability to build and use effective working relationships and to work independently as an effective team player are required.
• Analytical mind and business acumen
• Strong math skills (e.g. statistics, algebra)
• Problem-solving aptitude
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• 7-10yrs of proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst
• Bachelor's degree in a technology discipline or related field or equivalent work experience directly within functional area
• Must possess a Public Trust.

Nice To Haves

• familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset

• Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data
• Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns

• Collaborate with engineering and product development teams
• The analyze and identify trends to allow the organization to make decisions based on the data
