Data Technology Counsel
About The Position
The Data Technology Counsel reviews and negotiates technology contracts between Bottomline and its customers in a fast-paced environment. The role collaborates with internal stakeholders to mitigate risk, comply with internal policies, and support corporate goals and objectives. It provides expert legal advice on transactions and related topics, ensures compliance with regulatory standards and laws, and addresses complex data technology and usage regulations to safeguard Bottomline’s interests in an evolving technology landscape. Minimum attendance at Bottomline’s Portsmouth offices is required in accordance with company policy.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Membership in good standing with a state bar association.
- At least 5 years of experience and a deep understanding of federal and state privacy, technology, and data protection laws, regulations, compliance, and applicable rules (for example, GDPR, GBLA, CPRA/CCPA, and HIPAA).
- Proven track record drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements with sophisticated entities.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Review, draft, and negotiate license, SaaS, service, and resale contracts with sophisticated corporate entities.
- Work closely with the Company’s Fraud & Compliance and Digital Banking business units, providing practical contractual guidance and escalating matters where necessary.
- Offer legal advice on privacy and data regulations, compliance, and governance.
- Monitor changes in privacy and data regulations and provide proactive updates on potential impacts.
- Collaborate with compliance, risk, finance, and business teams on legal issues.
