About The Position

This position is for a Data Systems Coordinator Supervisor within the Ohio Department of Public Safety – Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Field Operations/Deputy Technical Services. The role involves supervising a unit of lower-level coordinators in coordinating office automation projects and overseeing the Deputy Technical Services unit. The position reports into the office five days a week and offers multiple pay increases over the first years of service, free parking, free gym access, on-site daycare, and an on-site cafeteria.

Requirements

  • 18 months of training or 18 months of experience in data processing/computer science (excludes data entry & keypunch).
  • 18 months of training or 18 months of experience in computer hardware/software systems.
  • 12 months of training or 12 months of experience in microcomputer, minicomputer &/or mainframe application programs.
  • 1 course or 3 months of training in operation of computer terminal & peripheral equipment (e.g., printers, modems, bursters, disk & tape drives).
  • Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science/electronic data processing.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in supervising a unit of lower-level coordinators.
  • Experience in managing and providing supervisory guidance for computer networks.
  • Experience scheduling data and network additions, deletions, and improvements with vendors.
  • Experience providing complex technical and procedural support.

  • Experience responding to concerns associated with specific data networks (e.g., BMV Deputy Registrar Data Network).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise unit of lower-level coordinators in coordinating office automation projects.
  • Oversee the Deputy Technical Services unit by providing management & supervisory guidance for the statewide Deputy Registrar & Business Application Service System (BASS) &/or Driver Examiner (DX) computer networks.
  • Schedule data & network additions, deletions, & improvements with multiple vendors.
  • Provide complex technical & procedural support.
  • Establish priorities & supervise subordinate personnel (e.g., provide developmental opportunities & work direction, coach staff to foster development, monitor staff activities to ensure quality customer service & information technology security, evaluate performance, approve section staffing levels, recommend discipline, pre-screen applications & participate in interviews).
  • Place, track, & clear service calls to multiple vendors & reporting data network concerns to Law Enforcement Administrative Data System (LEADS) controlling board.
  • Collaborate with LEADS network control center to determine network diagnostics.
  • Respond to concerns associated with Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) Deputy Registrar Data Network.
