Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Steward, Data Governance Analyst, or related data governance role.
  • 5+ years of experience within the healthcare industry.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality management, metadata management, data lineage, and regulatory compliance practices.
  • Experience defining and implementing data quality metrics, controls, and monitoring processes.
  • Ability to lead discussions and influence stakeholders across multiple business and technology teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and issue-resolution skills.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with SQL tools (SSMS), Teradata, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience supporting Cigna's US Employer business.

  • Knowledge of healthcare analytics, operational data, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience partnering with data product, engineering, and analytics teams to improve enterprise data capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead data governance initiatives that improve the quality, consistency, and usability of foundational and analytic data assets across USE and Care+.
  • Partner with business, technology, and regulatory stakeholders to define, document, and maintain critical data standards and governance practices.
  • Serve as a trusted subject matter expert on data usage, data assets, metadata, lineage, business glossaries, and critical data elements.
  • Drive data quality strategies by establishing metrics, monitoring performance, identifying trends, and coordinating remediation efforts.
  • Assess and mitigate risks related to data quality, security, compliance, integrity, and appropriate usage.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Data Governance and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with corporate policies and standards.
  • Act as the central coordination point for data quality initiatives, issue resolution activities, and governance-related decision making.
  • Support delivery teams, business partners, and analysts with consultative guidance that improves data-driven outcomes.
  • Evaluate data access requirements and security controls to protect sensitive information and support regulatory and contractual obligations.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, analytics capabilities, and data-driven decision making.
