About The Position

Under the direction of the Manager, the data specialist is responsible for maintaining and assembling factual technical data, generating required reports, and coordinating designated statistics for reports by accurately abstracting data/information from the medical record. The data specialist will be responsible for the abstraction of data according to the defined criteria of the project, which may include but not be limited to the Cath-PCI (diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and percutaneous coronary interventions), ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillators and leads), CP-MI Registry (acute coronary syndrome patients), and VQI (vascular procedures and surgeries) data registries. The data specialist will conduct and maintain concurrent and retrospective data collection and analysis with periodic review with physicians and management to deliver defect-free care to all of our cardiovascular patients under our care. The Colleague will focus on quality and accuracy of the data, and provide concurrent feedback to providers and management on the areas of excellence, and the areas in need of process improvement. The data specialist will maintain an ongoing exceptional level of knowledge and competency in the registries and provide education to align our efforts and outcomes with the standards of excellence set by the registries.

Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Nursing or Medical Assisting

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • 2 years in data abstraction for a cardiovascular service line
  • 2-4 years in a Cardiovascular Laboratory performing PCI and ICD implantation
  • 2-4 years in an Operating Room performing vascular procedures, hybrid procedures, or ICD implantation
  • RCIS certification
  • CCRN certification
  • CNOR certification
