About The Position

The Data Specialist supports the school's outcome data infrastructure and reporting needs by maintaining student and operational databases, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, and assisting staff and leadership in translating raw data into clear, actionable reports. This role combines technical database management with applied statistical analysis to support instructional decision-making, compliance reporting, and school improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years experience in data analysis role
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g, data analytics, statistics, information systems) or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data visualization tools
  • Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive student information with discretion and in compliance with privacy regulations
  • Clear communication skills, including the ability to present data to non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with education data reporting requirements
  • Experience creating dashboards or visualizations (e.g., Excel, Google Data Studio/Looker Studio, Tableau)
  • Knowledge of SPSS or other statistical analysis software (or equivalent)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a K–12 school or district setting, particularly with student information systems (Veracross or other similar system)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, update, and audit testing, assessment, and outcome data in the student information systems (SIS) and other school databases to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Manage testing, assessment, and outcome data entry, imports/exports, and data cleaning processes across multiple platforms
  • Develop and maintain organized data structures (e.g., in Airtable, Excel, or SIS platforms) for tracking attendance, assessments, discipline, enrollment, and other key metrics
  • Ensure data security and confidentiality in compliance with FERPA and other applicable privacy regulations
  • Troubleshoot data discrepancies and collaborate with IT/vendors to resolve system issues
  • Assist in designing, generating, and formatting reports for administrators, teachers, and external stakeholders (e.g., state/district reporting, grant compliance, board presentations)
  • Support statistical analysis of student performance data, attendance trends, and program outcomes
  • Create dashboards, charts, and visualizations that clearly communicate trends and findings
  • Assist with data interpretation to support MTSS, program evaluation, and school improvement planning
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and data pulls as requested by leadership
  • Work closely with administrators, teachers, and counselors to understand data needs and deliver timely, accurate information
  • Provide training or guidance to staff on data entry best practices and basic report reading
  • Support annual state and federal reporting cycles as needed
