Data Security & DLP Architect

About The Position

CGI is looking for a Data Security & DLP Architect to be its technical center of gravity. In this client facing role you will verify the discovery baseline, specify the classifiers that client administrators build against, direct the Proof of Value, correlate findings from two independent scanning engines (Microsoft Purview and Varonis), and produce the enterprise deployment design. This is the most technically demanding role on the engagement, carrying the largest task load and peaking during the early discovery phase. You will report to the Engagement Lead and own the tool configuration gap analysis, enterprise data discovery and labeling, data protection controls, and DLP target state deliverables — where the engagement carries technical delivery risk, it is concentrated here.

Requirements

  • At least 10+ years in Data security architecture with hands on, configuration level depth in data discovery, classification, and DLP.
  • Direct working experience with Microsoft Purview: custom sensitive information types and rule packages, trainable classifiers, Exact Data Match, sensitivity labels, auto labeling policies (including simulation mode), and DLP policy design.
  • Direct working experience with Varonis: classification rule construction, FileWalk and event collection, effective permissions analysis, and the operational realities of scanning a large NAS estate.
  • Demonstrated ability to write a classifier specification that a client administrator can build from — dictionaries, patterns, proximity, thresholds, confidence tiers, and false positive guards.
  • Ability to assess a data catalog platform (e.g., Collibra) at configuration and adoption level: deployment state, metadata model, integration with discovery output, and whether the catalog is actually used rather than merely installed.
  • Breadth across the wider data protection tool estate — CASB (Defender for Cloud Apps), secure web gateway (Zscaler), email protection (Proofpoint), and backup platforms — sufficient to assess configuration and adoption maturity and write defensible gap recommendations.
  • Experience developing custom classifiers for domain specific content — regulated, technical, or operational material for which no vendor detector exists.
  • Microsoft certification in information protection and compliance (SC 400 or equivalent) and Varonis product training.

Nice To Haves

  • Skills: Data Architecture Cybersec. Incident Remediation Data Loss Prevention ISO/IEC 27002 Oracle BDD

Responsibilities

  • Lead the tooling and environment walkthrough and the independent discovery verification of the client's stated environment — Microsoft 365, content management, and large NAS estates, plus applications and tooling — against what is observed on access.
  • Own the Discovery/Classification/Inventory, Data Protection Controls, and Data Loss Prevention domain assessments, and specify per domain system exports across Purview, Varonis, Collibra, and the DLP estate.
  • Produce and ratify the scan requirements pack: sensitive information type catalog, custom classifier specifications (including BES Cyber System Information and CEII), scan scope matrix, scan calendar, and export schema that the client's Purview and Varonis administrators build against.
  • Direct client executed Proof of Value scanning across in scope applications, adjudicate classification accuracy with data stewards, and accept the final scan dataset against the scope matrix.
  • Govern the enterprise scan — Microsoft 365 tenant crawl and NAS metadata and permissions crawl with risk prioritized content sampling — measuring throughput and running coverage checkpoints that adjust the sample on measured evidence.
  • Ratify the label taxonomy and run the auto labeling pilot through simulation and two tuning iterations on Proof of Value scope.
  • Produce the enterprise deployment design and runbook — architecture, volumetrics, wave plan, operating model, and success metrics — and assemble the final data discovery deliverable package.
  • Lead tool configuration reviews across Collibra, Microsoft Purview, DLP, Defender for Cloud Apps, Zscaler, Proofpoint, and backup platforms; score tool adoption maturity and produce the configuration gap analysis and recommendations.
