Data Scientist

PAR Electrical Contractors, LLC•Englewood, CO
•$145,000 - $165,000

About The Position

PAR Electrical Contractors, LLC is seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist to design and execute complex predictive, optimization, and machine learning models for utility infrastructure contracting. The role independently develops data products addressing operational, financial, and heavy industrial engineering challenges, and reports to the Director of AI & Machine Learning. The Data Scientist builds cloud-based data pipelines and ETL processes, partners with project managers and operations teams to identify efficiency gaps, and carries projects from loosely defined business questions through completed analyses or models. The work includes modeling real-world operational and financial data that may be incomplete, unlabeled, or inconsistent, and validating performance against project outcomes over time. The position also establishes practices for code quality, model validation, and deployment; communicates results and limitations to technical and non-technical stakeholders; and creates charts, dashboards, and reports that surface actionable insights. Up to 10% travel is required, mainly Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and 4–6 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree and 6 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills.
  • Experience building predictive models that have run in production.
  • Very high attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States; the employer does not sponsor work visas.

Nice To Haves

  • Databricks Certified Machine Learning Professional, Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), or AWS ML Specialty certification.
  • Experience in construction, industrial operations, engineering, or another asset-heavy, project-based industry.
  • Familiarity with project financial or job-costing systems such as EcoSys or JDE, or cloud data platforms such as Databricks.
  • Experience as an early or first data science hire, building an analytics function rather than joining an established one.
  • Background in geophysics, subsurface or terrain risk modeling, or geospatial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize cloud-based data pipelines and ETL processes for utility infrastructure analytics.
  • Partner with project managers and operations teams to identify efficiency gaps and deliver data-driven solutions.
  • Independently take loosely defined business questions through to completed analyses or models.
  • Build and validate models using real operational and financial data, including incomplete, unlabeled, or inconsistently recorded data.
  • Validate models against real project outcomes over time, beyond backtesting on static datasets.
  • Clearly communicate results and limitations to non-technical stakeholders in operations, finance, and leadership.
  • Design and implement complex machine learning, industrial optimization, and forecasting models.
  • Establish best practices for code quality, model validation, and deployment.
  • Present findings and recommendations to executive stakeholders and align data science capabilities with operational strategies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to document data pipelines and workflows.
  • Design charts, dashboards, and reports that highlight trends, risks, and actionable operational insights.
  • Break down complex, unstructured industrial and logistical problems into logical, data-driven components.
  • Prioritize data requests and model iterations across active construction sites or project phases.
  • Follow scientific and statistical protocols to ensure models are reliable, reproducible, and compliant with engineering standards.
  • Work across field operations, corporate procurement, design engineering, and other departments.
  • Ensure datasets are high-quality, clean, and mathematically sound.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Benefits

  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision benefits for the employee and dependents.
  • 100% employer-paid basic life insurance.
