Data Scientist

AgencyBloc•Cedar Falls, IA

About The Position

AgencyBloc is hiring a hands-on technical Data Scientist to build and maintain the data used by its go-to-market teams. Reporting to the Director of Revenue Operations, this role will move revenue reporting from manual spreadsheets to AgencyBloc’s Databricks lakehouse and reconcile the resulting data with current business reporting. The role combines data engineering practices with analytical judgment, using Python and SQL to automate recurring reporting, investigate discrepancies at the deal level, and communicate findings to sales, client success, finance, and executive leaders. Its goal is to establish a governed source of revenue truth that answers standard business questions through reliable, self-service data. The position will build and maintain pipelines from HubSpot, Sage Intacct, and other go-to-market systems into curated, report-ready data; migrate department reporting tools to the lakehouse; automate refreshes; implement data quality checks; and develop dashboards, data models, and forecasting support. It will also document and align business metric definitions, maintain the data dictionary, follow AgencyBloc’s AI and Data Governance standards, and partner with stakeholders to clarify decisions and present results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems/Management, Business Analytics, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years in a data analyst, analytics engineering, or BI role, building production reporting rather than one-off analysis.
  • Strong SQL skills, including complex joins, window functions, and query tuning against relational or lakehouse data.
  • Working proficiency in Python for data transformation and automating recurring reports.
  • Demonstrated experience automating manual reporting processes, with measurable time saved or errors removed.
  • Experience reconciling data across systems and tracing discrepancies to the record level.
  • Hands-on dashboard and data modeling experience using Databricks AI/BI, Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain numbers and their limitations to senior leaders.
  • Self-directed working style and judgment to ask the right questions and carry work through without step-by-step direction.
  • Applicants in the United States must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require visa sponsorship for employment authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Databricks experience, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows/Jobs, or notebooks.
  • HubSpot data model and reporting experience, including deals, pipelines, companies, or custom objects.
  • Experience with ERP or billing data, such as Sage Intacct invoice detail and ARR calculations.
  • Exposure to forecasting, statistical analysis, or predictive modeling, such as regression, cohort, or churn analysis, in Python, R, or SAS.
  • Experience with sales compensation or commission calculations.
  • Familiarity with data governance practices, including standardized metric definitions across business units, data dictionaries, lineage, and role-based access.
  • Version control experience with Git and scripting with shell for scheduled, auditable data jobs.
  • Background in B2B SaaS, insurance, financial services, or another regulated-data environment.

Responsibilities

  • Rebuild core revenue reporting, starting with the consolidated go-to-market book, in AgencyBloc’s Databricks lakehouse.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines from HubSpot, Sage Intacct, and other go-to-market systems through to a curated, report-ready gold layer.
  • Move department-built reporting tools, such as Client Success dashboards, onto the lakehouse and governed data.
  • Replace manual, credential-dependent refreshes and hand-built spreadsheets with scheduled, automated Python and SQL jobs.
  • Reconcile lakehouse outputs against HubSpot and legacy reports at the deal level, identify omitted records and their causes, and correct the logic.
  • Run automated reports alongside existing manual processes until historical numbers align.
  • Build data quality checks for completeness, duplicates, and schema drift, and resolve issues at the source.
  • Build dashboards and data models that answer standard go-to-market questions on a self-service basis and reduce ad hoc report requests.
  • Support pipeline and revenue forecasting with clean data and develop statistical or predictive models, such as churn, pipeline, and cohort analysis, as the platform matures.
  • Calculate and validate sales commissions and bonuses from system data, and document payout rules.
  • Document calculation logic for metrics including bookings, expansion, new logo, renewals, and upsells.
  • Align metric definitions across Sales, Client Success, and FP&A.
  • Maintain the data dictionary and follow AgencyBloc’s AI and Data Governance standards for access, lineage, and documentation.
  • Gather stakeholder requirements by identifying the decisions stakeholders need to make and choosing how to build for them.
  • Participate in commissions and revenue reviews with sales and executive leadership, explaining numbers and their sources clearly.
  • Present findings and recommendations to audiences ranging from individual contributors to executive leadership.
  • Anticipate follow-up questions, flag issues proactively, and carry work through to completion without step-by-step direction.
