Data Scientist - Simulation (Secret cleared)

Accenture Federal Services•Arlington, VA
•Onsite

About The Position

Accenture Federal Services is seeking a data scientist to build a production resource-allocation capability in Palantir Foundry. The role develops mathematical and simulation models to assemble and compare workforce teams subject to staffing, qualification, readiness, timing, equipment, and organizational constraints. The application will generate multiple courses of action, explain differences among alternatives, identify infeasible requests, assess organizational impact, and preserve capacity for future demands. This is a production decision-science role, not a reporting- or notebook-only position. The data scientist will formulate optimization and/or simulation models, write tested Python, integrate models with Foundry Ontology and applications, and work directly with operational and domain experts. The role also involves developing simulation, forecasting, and predictive models; assessing uncertainty and sensitivity; validating assumptions and outputs; and evaluating machine-learning opportunities as historical data becomes available. The position requires full-time onsite work in the DC area, US citizenship, and an active Secret clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience in statistical and simulation modeling, using SimPy, AnyLogic, Mesa, SALib, or similar tools.
  • Strong Python programming skills for statistical and scientific computing.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in the DC area.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • US citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with linear or mathematical optimization or operations research.
  • Experience with Palantir Foundry data science tooling.
  • Healthcare or public sector domain experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and tune statistical simulation models, such as Monte Carlo, discrete-event, and agent-based models, to support platform scoring.
  • Build predictive and forecasting models, including time-series forecasting, to identify future operational trends.
  • Conduct uncertainty and sensitivity analyses to quantify confidence in model outputs.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to validate model assumptions and improve accuracy over time.
  • Benchmark simulation and forecasting models against optimization-based approaches to ensure validity and cross-validation.
  • Evaluate opportunities to apply machine learning as historical data becomes available.
  • Develop mathematical and simulation models for workforce resource allocation under staffing, qualification, readiness, timing, equipment, and organizational constraints.
  • Build functionality to generate and compare courses of action, explain differences between alternatives, identify infeasible requests, assess organizational impact, and preserve capacity for future demands.
  • Write tested Python and integrate models with Palantir Foundry Ontology and applications.
  • Work directly with operational and domain experts.
