About The Position

Vantive is a vital organ therapy company on a mission to extend lives and expand possibilities for patients and care teams everywhere. For 70 years, our team has driven meaningful innovations in kidney care. As we build on our legacy, we are deepening our commitment to elevating the dialysis experience through digital solutions and advanced services, while looking beyond kidney care and investing in transforming vital organ therapies. Greater flexibility and efficiency in therapy administration for care teams, and longer, fuller lives for patients— that is what Vantive aspires to deliver. We believe Vantive will not only build our leadership in the kidney care space, it will also offer meaningful work to those who join us. At Vantive, you will become part of a community of people who are focused, courageous and don’t settle for the mediocre. Each of us is driven to help improve patients’ lives worldwide. Join us in advancing our mission to extend lives and expand possibilities. The Data Scientist will be responsible for supporting the Global R&D Sciences team to design experiments and analyze data optimizing experimental efficiency and minimize the risks of accuracy, precision and errors (type I and type II) and generate quantitative insights. The Data Scientist will be an educator and collaborator, training the team on design of experiments and data analysis in addition to reviewing protocols (from statistical rigor standpoint), data and reports to improve the statistical interpretation of results and conclusions drawn from the testing.

  • Ability to drive results on multiple simultaneous projects
  • Experience working with laboratory or manufacturing data
  • Experience designing experiments (DOE)
  • Ability to influence management on courses of action using data analyses with minimal assistance using both written and verbal methods.
  • Must be able to provide solutions that reflect understanding business objectives and cost implications.
  • Must be able to develop and tell business value proposition story using data
  • Degree in engineering, sciences, math/statistics or similar disciplines.
  • B.S. with greater than 10+ years of related experience or M.S. with greater than 7+ years of related experience or Ph.D. with greater than 5+ years of related experience.
  • 10+ years’ work in a position requiring in depth data analyses and reporting
  • Experience working in a regulated environment, such as medical device or pharmaceuticals preferred
  • Strong statistical background is required (through education and/or work experience)
  • Expert level user of common statistical tools like Minitab or JMP
  • Expert level user of statistical capabilities in Excel to solve business problems using complex and large data sets.
  • Comfort with developing Excel macros and providing such templates to scientists
  • Formal DMAIC experience is required

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in automating statistical data analysis using Python is preferred
  • Formal Design for Six Sigma experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supporting R&D projects and products through input on designs of laboratory testing and/or the analyses of existing data.
  • Devising new approaches to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles, e.g., DMAIC, experimental DOE, and Hypothesis testing.
  • Assure the use of appropriate statistical rigor in testing and data analyses.

  • Aiding with statistical assessments Sample size determination Null hypothesis Type 1 and Type 2 errors
  • Evaluating the data Determining variability of the data Where necessary determining normalcy, limit of detection, limit of quantification and/or assessing difference
  • Performing multivariant analyses to assess the sensitivity of the system and impact of the different variables. And using this information to optimize the system or design further testing.
  • Educating the Science team on how to perform these activities for themselves.
  • Providing periodic updates to R&D Sciences management.
