About The Position

Cloudflare is seeking an experienced Data Scientist for its Bengaluru team within the Data Intelligence & Analytics organization. The organization builds and operates the company’s core data platform, data lake, ingestion infrastructure, platform tooling, and internal products that support decision-making across the business. The Data Scientist will scale AI/ML models and the workflows behind AI-driven applications, agents, and chatbots used by go-to-market, engineering, and product teams. The role owns work end-to-end, from shaping requirements and designing systems through implementation, deployment, and ongoing operation. It focuses on scalable, reliable predictive and generative AI models, services, and application backends, working closely with data and full-stack engineers. The technology stack includes Python, React, and TypeScript, and may involve vector databases, MCP-based services, and Workers AI. The role also partners with business stakeholders to understand goals and challenges, turns data into insights and business outcomes, improves data quality with data engineering teams, communicates findings to different audiences, and contributes to hiring, mentoring, and team practices in Bengaluru.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field.
At least 5 years of data scientist experience, with proven industry experience in a large-scale environment (PB-scale data and globally distributed teams).
Strong experience in scientific computing using Python.
Experience with Spark, SQL, Tableau, Google Analytics, BigQuery, or equivalent big-data/cloud technologies.
Experience processing structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data.
Strong cross-functional collaboration experience with data engineering and data analyst teams.
Proven ability to apply data insights and machine learning to address business needs and drive revenue.
Proficiency in large language models and frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph for GenAI applications, including agents and chatbots.
Strong communication and presentation skills for different audiences within the company.
Ability to work closely with business, engineering, and product teams to align data initiatives with business needs.

Responsibilities

Partner with business leaders, stakeholders, product managers, and internal teams to understand business and product challenges and goals, and address them with predictive analytics in a globally distributed environment.
Understand the data landscape, including tools, technology stack, and source systems, and work with data engineering to improve data collection and quality.
Align analysis efforts with business and product strategy and roadmaps, using data insights to support strategic goals.
Present findings with audience-focused storytelling, emphasizing key takeaways in a crisp and concise manner.
Define, implement, and train statistical, machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI models.
Use software engineering best practices to publish model scores, insights, and learnings at scale within the company.
Identify macro- and micro-level trends, assess their statistical significance, and understand the drivers behind them.
Take an active role in hiring, growing, and mentoring the data scientist team in Bengaluru.
Build and operate scalable AI/ML models, services, GenAI-powered application backends, pipelines, and platforms in partnership with data and full-stack engineers.
Own products end-to-end, from requirements and system design through implementation, deployment, and long-term operation.
